WBSWWelcome to the re-launch of Write Big Sexy Words!

I’m very excited to host this monthly vocabulary feature again! I love words so much and I am forever wanting to learn new terms for everyday things and new ways to express the ideas and images in my mind. Writing erotica is a fine line between painting a sumptuous portrait of events and not berating the reader with ‘purple prose’ that is too saccharine and excessive. I, for one, sometimes feel like I have run out of words. How many synonyms are there for “thrust”, anyway? The words that I share here won’t all be inherently suggestive or sexy, but that’s the challenge: using new vocabulary to write big, sexy words.

It couldn’t be easier: on the first of the month, each month, I will share a blog post containing 9 big sexy words and their definitions, along with examples that use them in an erotic context. Feel free to use the words and phrases as writing prompts or simply as a resource to bolster your vocabulary and add some new words to your already brilliant writing ideas.

If you use these big sexy words, (and even if you don’t!) feel free to link up your post(s) in at the bottom of this post.

January’s Big Sexy Words

This set of nine words centres around the energy of the new year: calm, clear and filled with renewed vigour. I always feel a bit like a keen student going back to school when January rolls around; back on track after the indulgences of the holidays. My January calendar is packed with projects and blog posts so I have loads of writing to do and I will be trying my best to work these safe-for-work words into some very NSFW smut. Join me! Link up your smut, etc. below.

Inspired? Great!

You’re welcome to join the challenge to use one, some, or all of this month’s big sexy words and link your pieces here (by post or category).

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  1. There are 8 words here – I don’t mind – just saying – ya know – so you know I can count – well to ten anyhow – or did i miss number 9? xx

I'd love to hear your thoughts ...
